1. Who is eligible for the CMA program?
To be eligible for the US CMA program, you’ll need to meet these criteria:
- Education: You’ll need a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. But, if you’re still pursuing your degree, you can take the CMA exam now and meet the education requirement within 7 years of passing the exam.
- Membership: You must become a member of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
The minimal eligibility criterion lets you start your CMA journey while finishing your education.
2. Who conducts the CMA exam?
The US CMA exam is conducted by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), a global association for accountants and finance professionals. The IMA designs and administers the exam, making sure it meets the highest standards in management accounting.
You’ll take the exam at Prometric testing centers, which are available in many countries, offering flexible scheduling options.
3. Who awards the CMA license?
The US CMA license is awarded by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). Once you’ve passed both parts of the exam, met the education and experience requirements, and followed the IMA’s ethical standards, you’ll earn the prestigious CMA certification—recognized globally in management accounting.
